Newsletter Week 40

Dear Parents,

Last week in our Chocolate unit, students developed their research skills as they worked in pairs to find out geographical information about the main cacao producing countries. They also learned how chocolate is made. The on-going assessment is to see whether students are able to use secondary sources to obtain geographical information.

Coming up in week 42 are the Parent-Teacher-Student conferences. There will be no classes on Tuesday the 14th. A form will be sent home with the available timeslots that week. Please return it promptly.

Third grade are excited to be meeting up with their Kindergarten buddies for the first time next week for an activity in the park. As they are now the older students, this is a great opportunity for them to show how responsible they can be.

Student council representatives have been voted as Rin in 3V and Andrés in 3C. These representatives meet with other student council representatives in other grades and discuss how we can make our school a better place. Our FRIENDS representatives have also been voted as Elliott and Elisa in 3C as well as Sophie and Robert from 3V. They have attended a Friends Training session and will help create an anti-bullying environment at SIS.

Finally, our first SIS Learner Profile word awards were presented today for students who have been good Inquirers. The awards went to Soham and Liv in 3v and Jikke and Andrés in 3C. Our next SIS Learner Profile word is Communicator which we will be working on for a few weeks.

Warm regards,

Mr Gordon and Mrs Kinch
