Dear parents,
The first ten weeks of school have passed and it’s time for a well-earned break. We’d like to thank you all for a pleasant and constructive round of parent-teacher conferences last week which we hope will be of benefit to all students’ academic and social well-being.
We have now come to the end of our first IPC learning unit built around Chocolate, rounding it off with a fun (and tasty) class trip to Chokladfabriken and then an afternoon of watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. All students developed their skill of being able to use secondary sources to obtain geographical information.
When we come back from the Autumn break we will begin our next unit which is called Bright Sparks, a science-based unit all about electricity.
The first week back is also Celebrating Reading week. 30 minutes each day will be set aside exclusively for Reading and 3rd graders will also have an opportunity to read a story to their buddies in the younger grades. Students may wish to bring in books from home to read during reading time. Students may read whatever interests them however the idea is that they should read something appropriately challenging. At the bottom of this post you will find a selection of authors and novels which are popular from third grade and beyond.
Although no formal homework has been issued for over the autumn break, students are encouraged to keep practising their reading by using Raz kids and finish off any uncompleted Mathletics homework.
